Getting There...

The living/dining room renovations are winding down - at long last.
Hubby is doing a final putty job on the trim around the bookcases and mantel unit that he's been building and installing for the last couple of weeks, and then there's one more coat of paint to go before they're finished. I'm really pleased at the way things are looking:

Once the final paint on this unit is dry, then we can start thinking about getting all the larger pieces of furniture out of the rooms so that the new carpet (yet to be purchased, but it will be a beige tone) can go in. Next will be redoing that old Ben Franklin stove with a decent coat of stoveblack. The final step will be putting up shades and window treatments in the three windows and on the front door.
We're discussing what we'll tackle next - or whether Hubby will spend the time building the display cabinets for the oriental dolls/artwork and dragons that have been put away for now. We're going to have two of them, bracketing the sofa on the long wall, although we haven't decided if they're going to be floor to ceiling or floor to mid-height with some other storage below - hutch-like. I'm also not certain whether I want them painted the same cream color as the mantle unit, or have him make them in oak, like the unit he built to go over my piano:

I'm tending to think I'd like to go for wood-tones on the opposite wall, letting the mantle be the centerpiece of the room until one gets in far enough to see what those display cases hold. :-D
Healthwise, my arms are continuing to be very sore. However, inasmuch as I've got a LOT of piano music stuff coming at me this summer - 3 ragtime pieces and accompanying vocalists for a musical review program, piano/organ duets and piano solos for a classical music recital - I've decided I'm gonna try to put in between 6 - 10 hrs a week on the piano and try to build up the muscles in my shoulder and left arm. Maybe THAT will make all that music easier to bear (especially the ragtime, in which the left hand is bouncing all over the keyboard!) Otherwise, I may end up having to go in to see a doctor and try to convince him/her to give me a cortosone shot (and then pray that it actually works.)
Writing-wise, I'm working up a story for ALEC and brewing on the next chapter of IDD - but I've been spending the time my Muse has given me free of her presence (as in she's ditched me a lot lately) I'm playing up LOTRO so that
engarian and I, along with another friend, can spend our Sundays happily questing and playing together. We had a blast last weekend - I'm really looking forward to doing it again!
