[Error: unknown template qotd]Does it matter?
Face it, the world itself isn't going to end, only mankind's involvement in it. And, nine chances out of ten, the "end" will not be a clean one - meaning that there will remain behind small enclaves of humanity desperately hanging onto whatever veneer of civilization is left to them.
And maybe that's a good thing.
It gives me hope that whatever method takes out the vast majority of us will at the same time take out most of the idiocy, bigotry, malice and competition that has made one human turn on the other over the ages. Considering that the population will be miniscule at best, perhaps we will re-learn what it means to be mutually supportive.
And, with any luck at all, whatever becomes of humanity after that will include us being a more humane humanity.
Ah well. I can dream, can't I?
