A few of us here participated in a Q&A community, started up by Lev Grossman, wherein he asked fandom-related questions in preparation for writing an article for TIME magazine on the fan fiction world. The questions themselves were very germaine to discovering who we fanfiction writers are, what we do, why we do it, and so on; and Mr. Grossman's interactions with those of us who commented was consistently respectful and genuinely curious.

Well, the article is due to come out to the news stands tomorrow (Friday, June 8th), but for those who wish to read it beforehand, it has already been put up on TIME's website. In the LJ community, Mr. Grossman bemoans the fact that his article was cut by 1000 words, but the words that remained were good ones.

Read the article: The Boy Who Lived Forever.

After all the kerfluffle over Keith Mander and his utter ignorance of fandom and what it's about, it's like a breath of fresh air to see that someone from the outside came to us properly and really "got" what he was hearing. This gives me hope that, someday, so many of us won't have to cringe or hide our fannish natures anymore.
